BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia (file photo) has filed a Rs 2 crore defamation suit against the Cockroach Janata Party and its leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka in the Delhi High Court.
Bhatia said the defamation case will be listed for hearing before the Delhi High Court on Wednesday.
“When accusations cross their limits, then the law draws its line,” Bhatia said in a post on X on Tuesday.
“A ₹2 crore defamation lawsuit,” he added.
The suit, titled Gaurav Bhatia versus Saurav Das & Ors., has been filed before the Delhi High Court under its ordinary original civil jurisdiction, according to the filing shared by Bhatia.
The defendants named in the memo of parties are Saurav Das, whose X handle is @SauravDassss; Ashutosh Ranka, whose X handle is @AshutoshRanka; Abhijeet Dipke, whose X handle is @abhijeet_dipke; and the Cockroach Janata Party, listed with the X handles @cockroachisback and @CJP for India.
Bhatia said the case would be decided through the judicial process rather than social media exchanges.
“Tomorrow, this defamation case will be listed for hearing before the Hon'ble Delhi High Court,” he said.
“No social media trial.
No battle of statements.”
“Only facts, evidence, and the rule of law,” Bhatia said, adding, “The test of truth will take place where it should— in the court.”
In a separate post on X, Bhatia said the arguments would be presented before the court.
“Tomorrow, every solid argument will echo in the court,” he said.
“The final nail will be hammered into the coffin of lies.”
The court filing identifies Bhatia as the plaintiff and Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka, Abhijeet Dipke and the Cockroach Janata Party as defendants. The filing posted by Bhatia also contains the parties' available X handles and contact details.
