BJP’s boat has already sunk in Tripura: Abhishek Banerjee

National General Secretary of Trinamool Congress Abhishek Banerjee attacked BJP in Tripura for changing the chief minister and said BJP’s boat has already sunk in Tripura and there is now no use changing the boatman.

Following dissension, BJP replaced Biplab Kumar Deb with Manik Saha as the chief minister. Around 24 candidates including Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha filed their nomination papers for the June 23 by-polls to four Tripura Assembly seats. Assembly constituencies Bordowali, Agartala, Jubarajnagar and Surma are going to by polls on June 23.

Banerjee while launching the party’s campaign said, “ BJP was forced to change their chief minister in Tripura after TMC started to gather political grounds in the state. In 2023 the government will change in Tripura”.


He said “We will bring Poriborton(change) to Tripura. BJP’s boat has already sunk in Tripura, now no use changing the boatman (indicating the recent CM change) for BJP khela Sesh (game is over) in Tripura".

He added, “In the by-polls BJP has put up two doctors in two different constituencies as their candidates but the health infrastructure in Tripura is dismal. Tripura tops in political violence cases yet no action was taken by the government because they were perpetrators”.

He said, “In the municipal polls they rigged the elections, they did not allow people to cast their votes, in the by polls they cannot stop people, and the day people of Tripura will vote , BJP will lose all the by poll seats . I can guarantee this.

BJP has given people of Tripura Duare Gunda model (Goons at doorstep model)”

He added,” TMC will give you the Duare Sarkar model (Government at doorstep model). They campaigned about acche din, now globally India has earned bad rapport due to the controversial comment of their spokesperson. TMC is the only party that knows how to defeat the BJP, we have defeated them hands down. If we open our doors, BJP will crumble like a pack of cards even before polls in Tripura, many of their ministers and MLAs and leaders are in touch with us”.

The TMC leader said that BJP government in Centre had to reduce fuel prices since they got defeated in Bengal.

He added, “In Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya we will take on BJP and bring back democracy in these states of Northeast. We are Mamata Banerjee’s warriors, we do not do politics on Facebook, twitter, we work for the common people. We will not leave not an inch, if BJP is the virus, TMC is the vaccine.”
