Sources told ET that BJP president Nitin Nabin, who vacated the seat after being elected as Rajya Sabha MP, was expected to participate, but stayed back in New Delhi. He is likely to attend a meeting of NDA leaders at the CM's residence in Patna on Friday.

After the nomination, top NDA leaders addressed a public meeting in Bankipur. While addressing the rally, Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary took a veiled attack at Jan Suraaj candidate Prashant Kishor, saying those who have nothing to do with Bihar seek votes. He said people will vote for the work done by Nabin in the constituency.

BJP has not lost this seat since 1995 and has received around 60% of the votes polled in all assembly elections. RJD's Rekha Gupta also filed her papers on Thursday. Kishor will file his nomination on Saturday.
