BJP would carve out Telangana state if voted to power: Sushma Swaraj

Sushma Swaraj today said that BJP would carve out a separate state within three months, if the NDA was voted to power in the next general elections.

NALGONDA: Alleging that the UPA government has failed to keep its promise on Telangana issue, Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj today said that BJP would carve out a separate state within three months, if the NDA was voted to power in the next general elections.

Swaraj said her party was committed to the creation of Telangana state as her party was always in favour of smaller states in the country.

"Telangana state demand is not by separatists, but it is by the people of the region, who suffered backwardness and lack of development," she said.

She was speaking at a public meeting organised in support of Telangana state here tonight.

Swaraj, who arrived here from Delhi, said that if the UPA government moves a bill in the Winter Session of the Parliament for the creation of separate Telangana state, her party would extend support to it.

The meeting was attended by state BJP leaders including, the state party president G Kishan Reddy. Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) leaders, including its convenor Prof M Kodandram also attended the meeting.
