PATNA: A day after six parties announced merger to form a united Janata Parivar, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar claimed that the move has triggered panic in BJP.

"It seems panic has set in the BJP camp. The way they are reacting on the merger shows they are a worried lot. I have nothing more to say, but yes, the fear factor is playing out in the BJP camp," Kumar told reporters on his arrival from New Delhi on Thursday.

He also accused BJP chief Amit Shah of spreading false information. "During his Patna visit, the national BJP chief said the land holdings of 12 sugar mills in Bihar have been handed over to private players to set up malls. The truth is there were 15 state-owned sugar mills and two distilleries which over the years had been closed. So when I took over in 2005, the government decided to engage SBI Caps to conduct a study for the revival of the closed mills," the chief minister said.
