BJP workers protests in Assam against Congress government
GUWAHATI: Assam police on Wednesday thwarted an attempt by thousands of BJP workers to march from Khanapara to Dispur to protest what they allege is “misrule and misgovernance” by Congress in the state.

BJP parliamentarian Ramen Deka was injured when police used batons to disperse the crowd. Several BJP leaders were arrested, according to party workers.

The state unit of the BJP had organised “Dispur Ghareo”, alleging corruption in Congress’ 15-year rule in the state. The winter session of the state assembly is underway.

BJP’s secretary in-charge of Assam, Mahendra Singh, said, “Today's action of the government shows the high handedness of the Congress.”
