BJP will win more seats than predicted in Chhattisgarh: CM Raman Singh

RAIPUR: With the exit and opinion polls predicting the BJP having an edge over Congress in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh said the surveys are correct but his party will win more seats than what is being predicted.

BJP will register victory with good margin. The results will be much different from the exit and opinion polls, Singh told reporters here last evening.

"When results will be declared on December 8, the party will get so many seats that everybody will be shocked," he claimed.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress said exit polls were unreliable and based on prejudices which will be quashed after December 8.

"After counting, all these unreliable and prejudiced predictions will prove wrong," Congress state unit spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla said today.

Refusing to accept the predictions of exit polls, he said BJP could celebrate with these prejudiced results, because after two days they will not be able to do so.

"The atmosphere is against the BJP in Chhattisgarh and the people have voted against the poor-governance and corruption of the incumbent government," he said.

Claiming victory of his party with a big margin, Shukla said Congress will take lead in Bastar, Bilaspur, Sarguja, Raipur and Durg regions of the state.

The tall claims of exit poll surveys for Punjab, Himachal and Karnataka went wrong. Poll samples don't have facts and are not even scientific in nature, he said.

A record 77 per cent voting was recorded in two-phased Chhattisgarh Assembly elections for the 90-member House, where the ruling BJP is eyeing a hat-trick.
