The tussle between former Meghalaya governor Tathagata Roy and BJP Bengal leaders continues even as Roy cries foul and claimed that after the poll debacle in the assembly polls and the by-polls, BJP will face similar disasters in the coming Kolkata and Howrah Municipal polls, if they commit similar mistakes again by choosing wrong candidates for the municipal polls.

“BJP’s old and dedicated workers, those who know about the evolution of BJP, should be selected and given priority while choosing candidates. Not that any candidates, leaders and workers from Trinamool Congress are completely redundant but they should be chosen properly. However, the focus must be on the BJP workers who know the BJP’s growth and journey as a party and how people have suffered for the party for long,” Tathagata Roy said.

Roy, who served as the governor of Tripura from 2015-2018 and of Meghalaya from 2018-2020, opined that the party had a disastrous performance and results and candidates lost due to decisions of some party leaders during the by-poll and assembly election. “There will be further election deposit forfeiture in Municipal polls if the right kind of candidates are not chosen,” Roy commented.

Tathagata Roy took to Twitter and wrote: “Nobody likes whistleblowers. I won't bother to reply to this. The reply was manifest in the recent by-elections where BJP lost its deposit in 3 out of 4; it will be more so in the coming municipal and panchayat elections. I'll watch with a heavy heart.”

The Election Committee for Municipal polls of BJP Bengal Unit has several leaders who have turncoat Trinamool leaders. “The poll debacle is on KDSA and no one as they were given charges of choosing the candidates. There are several 'misdoings' going on in WB BJP and I will expose them soon,” Roy said. By KDSA, Roy hinted at Kailash Vijaybargia, Dilip Ghosh, Shiv Prakash and Arvind Menon, who he has earlier also blamed in social media for the assembly poll debacle.
