BJP warns its absentee MPs of stern action
NEW DELHI: BJP has warned its MPs in various Parliamentary Committees and panels not to skip the meetings as doing so is leading to the opposition having a greater say in the reports while the government view goes virtually unrepresented and unrecorded.

In the presence of PM Narendra Modi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu issued a stern warning to all such MPs and emphasised that those found absenting themselves from two consecutive meetings of any panel may face action. Naidu was speaking at the weekly BJP Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday. He said the action against erring MPs could range from transferring them to other panels to not nominating frequent defaulters to any such group.

To drive home his point, Naidu gave the example of the highly adverse report of the Standing Committee on Railways. He maintained that this was due to the absence of the BJP members from the committee meetings when the matters were discussed.
