BJP trashes government claims over arrest of corrupt babus
NEW DELHI:Days after the AAP government put up hoardings claiming that 35 officials have been arrested for corruption, BJP hit out at them for misleading Delhiites. The party has alleged that the list of 35 officials consists mostly of Class III and IV government employees of the level of peons and head clerks.

“They have been misleading people from day one. Delhi government issued a department-wise list of corrupt officers claiming to have arrested 12 excise officials. When we cross-checked, we found that the list includes two head clerks of Class III and two Class IV employees. The remaining are traders (excise licensees and their employees),“ said Satish Upadhyay, Delhi BJP chief.

Of the nine DJB officials arrested, BJP alleged that five were employees while the rest are private contractors. Hitting out at chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, BJP said that the government today stands exposed on the corruption front. “Our preliminary inquiry has established that the government is trying to deceive people with misleading figures to promote its anti-corruption image,“ said Upadhyay.

Meanwhile, BJP also attacked the AAP government over the fake degree row and domestic violence case against its MLAs. It said that the “character certificate“ given by the ruling party to its members has “fallen flat“.“Today, we see two faces of AAP. One was before the assembly polls. The second is what we see today,“ said Upadhyay.

The Delhi BJP chief also accused the state government of “defaming“ the municipal corporations. Upadhyay was speaking after the launch of four mobile dispensaries of South Delhi Municipal Corporation by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley at his official residence.
