BJP to parade Goa MLAs before President Patil

The BJP is all set to parade its supporting MLAs from Goa before President Pratibha Patil today to prove majority in the state assembly.

NEW DELHI: The BJP is all set to parade its supporting MLAs from Goa before President Pratibha Patil today to prove majority in the state assembly.

BJP sources said party chief Rajnath Singh would lead a delegation of 21 MLAs of the Goa Democratic Alliance (GDA) to the Rashtrapati Bhavan at 1:00 p.m.

The BJP believes the Goa Assembly Speaker Pratapsinh Rane has acted "unconstitutionally" by having adjourned the House till Monday as the GDA sought a floor test to prove its majority.

The BJP chief has also sought central intervention to guard against any horse-trading attempt for power in Goa.

"Adjourning the House till Monday was uncalled for. It should have been kept running. The BJP should have been allowed an opportunity to prove its majority," Singh had said.

"We do suspect that the Congress could do some conspiracy in Goa, give what it did in Bihar and Jharkhand," Singh said.
