BJP to move SC seeking direction to hold polls at the earliest

BJP would move the Supreme Court seeking a direction to hold elections for the Karnataka State Assembly at the earliest.

UDUPI: BJP would move the Supreme Court seeking a direction to hold elections for the Karnataka State Assembly at the earliest.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, BJP state unit president D V Sadananda Gowda said "we will wait for the Election Commission to publish the final list of voters. If the elections are delayed, we will approach the Supreme Court", he said.

he said the party had already met Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami demanding early elections in Karnataka, which is under the President's rule.

Gowda flayed the statements by Congress and former Prime Minister H D Devegowda demanding a CBI probe into the terror activities in the state.

The state police have been handling the issue well, he said and charged that such statements by Congress and Devegowda would only demoralise the police force.
