BJP to contest Medak bypoll

HYDERABAD: BJP will contest the upcoming bypoll to Medak Lok Sabha constituency on the behalf of TDP-BJP combine.

A decision to this effect was taken today at a meeting of Telangana TDP and BJP leaders here.

Telangana state unit BJP president G Kishan Reddy told reporters after the meeting that his party would make its recommendation to the Central leadership on possible candidates.

The central leadership of BJP is likely to take the decision by the evening of August 26.

TDP's floor leader in Telangana Legislative Assembly E Dayakar Rao said that his party would fully support the BJP's nominee.

The bypoll, slated for September 13, is necessitated by the resignation of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The NDA partners had fought the recent general elections together.
