BJP to bring out constituency-specific manifesto in Assam

GUWAHATI: BJP today said it would bring out a "local manifesto" for each constituency, besides an overall one specific to Assam for the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state.

"Every locality or region has specific problems and issues. Our local units will seek suggestions from people in each constituency and then we will bring out constituency- specific local manifestos," BJP national vice-president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe told reporters here.

The party will release an overall manifesto for the state and the local ones will be in addition to that, he said.

Asked when the manifestos would be released, Sahasrabuddhe said it would be done after the Election Commission notifies the polls.

"We are working on the manifesto part. Though no official committee has been formed yet, some people are working on informally, mainly regarding our old manifesto of last Lok Sabha election in Assam," he said.

Sahasrabuddhe also criticised the present Congress-ruled state government for lack of development and claimed that the BJP was the only option for the people of Assam to bring development in Assam.
