BJP thinks about minorities only during election time: Congress

"I want to know from the BJP what prevented it from doing something for minorities since 2008 and why all of a sudden it has started thinking about them," Gufran-E- Azam said.

BHOPAL: A senior Congress leader today hit out at the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, saying the saffron party thinks about welfare of minorities only when elections are around.

"I want to know from the BJP what prevented it from doing something for minorities since 2008 and why all of a sudden it has started thinking about them," Gufran-E- Azam said at a press conference here.

Azam criticised the BJP for its conference scheduled here on September 25 as part of its efforts to woo Muslims ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.

In an oblique reference to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Congress leader said, in his view, there was not much difference between the two.

"One tries to fool people by not wearing a skull cap and the other wears it to show he is truly secular," Azam said.
