As the Marxists threatened to pull out of UPA coalition if the UPa government moves IAEA for India-specific safeguards, BJP on Sunday termed the Left parties as "political pranksters" who were adopting "divisive tactics".

NEW DELHI: As the Marxists threatened to pull out of UPA coalition if the UPa government moves IAEA for India-specific safeguards, BJP on Sunday termed the Left parties as "political pranksters" who were adopting "divisive tactics".

Party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the Left parties could not absolve themselves of their responsibility for the current price rise and inflation. "The divisive tactics of the Left parties are not going to absolve them of the current price rise and inflation," Mr Rudy said.

Terming the present condition of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as "sulking", Mr Rudy said that Mr Singh has been rendered "dysfunctional" and that the "ragtag UPA government is non-existent". He also criticised the Left for behaving like "political pranksters".

The BJP spokespersons comments came in the backdrop of CPM formally deciding to withdraw support in concert with other Left parties if the government approaches IAEA.
