TORONTO: Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi applauded contributions of Indian diaspora, especially Canadians of Indian-origin, as several party supporters here celebrated BJP's sweeping victory in the general elections.

The celebrations began with lighting of traditional lamp by priests from Sringeri temple and chanting of Vedic mantras.

The highlight of the event was direct telephonic address of Joshi from New Delhi who applauded contributions of Indian diaspora, especially Canadians of Indian origin, in creating bonds among Indian and Canadian people and enhance people-to-people contact.

Joshi spoke about the Vajpayee era when India progressed in all areas including space, infrastructure and technology and assured that a new India will emerge in 21st century and take it back to its glorious heights, OFBJP said in a statement.

Azad Kaushik, the convener Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) Canada, welcomed the change in the government that gives hope to over billion people for better life in India and restores the esteem of Indian Diaspora around the world.
