NEW DELHI: BJP today hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for failing to provide houses to four lakh slum dwellers registered under RajivRatanAwasYojna.

Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel said Dikshit had promised four lakh houses to slum dwellers in Delhi in 2007, just prior to the Assembly Elections.

"The poor people had to shell out Rs 100 to fill the forms but ironically, the Delhi government requested for a sanction of nearly one lakh houses from Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee under Jawaharlal Nenru National Urban Renewal Mission ( JNNURM).

"Of these, 44,000 houses were cancelled because of non availability of hindrance free land. By the time of the audit, only 10,000 houses were made of which only 85 were allotted," he said at a meeting of district presidents.

Goel asked the workers to approach all the four lakh registered people and hold a massive demonstration in front of the CM's residence tomorrow to mobilise them, a statement said.

Congress is a party of leaders who have expertise in constructing castles in air, Goel said.
