The BJP slammed the opposition’s behaviour in Parliament, especially in the Rajya Sabha where Trinamool Congress member Shantanu Sen tried to snatch papers from the hands of IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw who was reading out a statement on the Pegasus controversy.

“The way TMC MPs behaved with Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is highly condemnable and against the democratic values. TMC has a history of working against parliamentary ethos. The BJP strongly opposes it,” said a statement released by BJP president JP Nadda.

Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi said: “Whenever something right and good is supposed to happen in the country, this kind of conduct is being indulged in by the opposition. The opposition is building mythical characters to disrupt data protection of Indian people, which is going to become the law of the land.” Lekhi chaired the joint parliamentary committee which was preparing a report on The Data Protection Act. She said the report is ready and has been submitted to the speaker.
