BJP seeks removal of Haryana Congress MLAs from party for displaying 'racist' posters

NEW DELHI: BJP today accused two Haryana Congress MLAs of displaying "racist and disturbing" posters during a protest on the black money issue and demanded that they be immediately sacked from the party.

BJP also demanded that Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi apologise to the people on the issue.

The Congress MLAs - Karan Dalal and Udai Bhan - reportedly displayed the posters, purportedly carrying pictures of semi-nude African children and "Le lo kala dhan" written on it, at a protest in Palwal in Haryana yesterday.

"I am absolutely appalled to see that African children have been displayed like this. This is not just racist but also inhumane. You cannot denigrate African children like this. What kind of message are you sending to the international community and to the world.

"The two MLAs concerned should be sacked from the party. BJP demands that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi today apologise to the country for such kind of racist comments," BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said.

The BJP leader said Congress is rattled and "frustrated" due to the success of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a short span of 10 months.

He said Dalal is not just a five-time MLA of Congress in Haryana but is also closely related to former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and said such acts are not expected from elected representatives.
