BJP seeks Mamata’s dismissal as Supreme Court refuses to stay Narada probe
KOLKATA: BJP leaders in Bengal have demanded the dismissal of the Mamata Banerjee government in view of the Supreme Court verdict which upheld the Calcutta High Court order on the CBI probe into the Narada sting operation.

“We will meet the governor tomorrow and demand termination of Mamata Banerjee’s government.

Such a corrupt party like Trinamool Congress does not have any moral right to run a government,” BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the CPM too demanded the dismissal of all ministers and MPs who were seen accepting money in the sting operation.

“The chief minister should remove all her tainted ministers and MPs. This government should be ashamed as the Supreme Court upheld the high court’s order into the sting operation,” CPM state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said on Tuesday.

Mishra also welcomed the Supreme Court verdict and said that their fight against Trinamool Congress will intensify in the days ahead.

The state CPM chief also said that “the ethics committee of Parliament should be ashamed after the Supreme Court verdict.

The ethics committee, which did not find time to hold a single meeting in the past ten months even though a number of Trinamool Congress MPs were reportedly accepted money, should now punish them.”

Interestingly, both BJP and CPM in Bengal are struggling hard to emerge as the principal opposition in the state and both are engaged in organising political agitation against the Trinamool-run government.

Tuesday’s Supreme Court verdict has emboldened both parties to sharpen their tirade against the Mamata government as many of her ministers and MPs were seen accepting money in the sting operation.

BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said they would hold a rally in the city on Wednesday demanding arrests of all those Trinamool Congress leaders who featured in the Narada sting operation.

“We will also submit a memorandum to the governor o n Wednesday and demand arrests of all the Naradatainted leaders.

Bengal has never witnessed so many corrupt politicians in a single political party which is now running our state,” he said.

Mamata, however, welcomed the verdict, saying it’s is positive and constructive. She said “an opportunity has been left to appeal again after a gap of one month. This verdict is also against those who have organised the incident (read sting operation),” Mamata added.
