BJP seeks 50 % water cut during Holi celebrations in Mumbai

The city unit of BJP today sought 50 per cent water cut in the city during the Holi festival on March 27.

MUMBAI: The city unit of BJP today sought 50 per cent water cut in the city during the Holi festival on March 27.

Stating that Maharashtra was reeling under severe drought, the BJP general secretary Sanjay Upadhyay said, "There is massive wastage of water during the Holi festival in the metropolis."

"Therefore, 50 per cent water cut should be imposed in Mumbai during the Holi celebrations and there should not be any water supply through tankers," Upadhyay said in a press release said.

Meanwhile, the Minorities cell of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today donated Rs 2.16 lakhs to the drought affected people.

The amount was donated in the Chief Minister's relief fund which will be sent to the drought affected people.

The cheque of Rs 2.16 lakhs was handed over by MPCC minorities cell president M M Shaikh to Chief Minister Prithiraj Chavan at the Sahyadri government guest house, an official press statement said.
