BJP-RSS meet discusses coordination

Leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP in Uttar Pradesh met over the weekend to synchronise the working of the ‘Sangh Parivar’ and reach out to people in urban and rural areas with the party’s welfare work as part of its strategy.

The crucial meeting — just eight months before assembly polls in the state — was held in the presence of BJP’s national organisation secretary BL Santhosh. It follows the recent RSS meeting in Chitrakoot and BJP’s state executive meeting in Lucknow.

The meeting was mainly to strengthen coordination between BJP and RSS in the backdrop of the upcoming polls. Sources said there could be more such meetings. “Our recent win in zila panchayat elections shows how the machinery, both at the state and party, is with us,” a party functionary told ET.
