BJP requests extension of voter enrolment deadline

The party requested Additional District Magistrate Avinash Singh to extend the last date for enrolment of voters, BJP's Surendra Maithani said.

KANPUR: Apparently impressed by the turnout at Narendra Modi's rally here, Kanpur unit of BJP has asked the district administration to extend by two months the October 30 deadline of enrolling voters.

The party requested Additional District Magistrate Avinash Singh to extend the last date for enrolment of voters, BJP district unit chief Surendra Maithani said.

"Due to festivals and preparations across the city, many voters will not be able to get themselves enrolled, so to avoid that, the date should be postponed," Maithani said.

The ADM has given assurance that their request will be placed at the administrative level and appropriate steps would be taken, Maithani said.

Modi's rally was held here on October 19.
