BJP promoting 'Hindu Nation' subverting the Constitution : Congress
SHILLONG: Congress today alleged that the BJP led NDA government was trying to make the country a 'Hindu nation' subverting the Constitution.

"Secularism is the key word in the Constitution but the BJP led government at the Centre is trying to totally subvert it by using the hardline Hindu groups like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and openly wanted people from various religions to convert to Hinduism," AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy told reporters here.

"The best example is the vandalising of the churches in Delhi which is seen as encouraging the communal elements by the BJP government at the Centre," he said.

Coming down heavily on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Narayanasamy said, "Unfortunately the Prime Minister who has been talking about the development agenda is silent on the communal agenda."

"When the issue was raised in Parliament in the Rajya Sabha for almost 15 days, the Rajya Sabha was paralysed for the failure of the Prime Minister to address the issue," he said.

He further alleged the several promises which had been made by the NDA government and Narendra Modi, none of them have been implemented so far.
