BJP's Northeast incharge Sambit Patra is holding a meeting of BJP legislators in Imphal and has also met NDA allies. The state has been under President's Rule since February.
The BJP headquarters in Imphal is witnessing hectic parleys and movement of party workers.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla recently held a meeting with five MLAs, belonging to the Kuki-Zo communities and discussed the visit of the Prime Minister on September 13.
On September 7, Bhalla also held a meeting with BJP MLAs from the Imphal Valley region, including former Chief Minister N Biren Singh, and BJP's state President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi.
A few months ago, Sambit Patra visited Churachandpur and met key leaders, including Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte, who survived a mob attack in Imphal on May 4, 2023.
Around the same time, 21 Manipur MLAs wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the formation of a "popular government" in the state, which has been under President's Rule, to restore peace and normalcy.
In June, former chief minister N Biren Singh and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
The 60-member Manipur Assembly, placed under suspended animation following the imposition of President's Rule, has a tenure until 2027.
