BJP plans special drive in slums, illegal colonies

Under the campaign, BJP workers will meet the voters personally. The party has started the process to appoint page in-charges of voter list, who will have a list of 60 voters each in every constituency.
On Sunday, BJP functionaries held a meeting of the page in-charges. Party members say the idea is to connect with the voters and tell them about the policies and decisions taken by the central government. The campaign will be monitored by Delhi BJP's organisation general secretary Vijay Sharma. A large number of meetings on Sunday were held in constituencies which BJP had lost to AAP in the last election.
"Each page in-charge will have 60 voters. He/she will have to personally meet the voters and convince them to vote for BJP. They will tell the voters about the work done by the Modi-led central government in the past seven months,'' said a senior BJP member.
Special focus will be on unauthorised colonies and slums, considered AAP's vote banks. "We want to tell people about the government's recent decision in which it extended the cut-off date of regularization of unauthorized colonies from 2007 to 2014. Lakhs of people will benefit from it. Though Congress was in power for 15 years, it did nothing to solve the problem of people living in these colonies. Similarly, during its 49-day stint in power, AAP did nothing," said a senior BJP member.
After being ordered by BJP chief Amit Shah, the state unit is taking all the measures to ensure that the drive is a success.
Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said that by January 10, page in-charges will be appointed in all 70 assembly constituency.
