BJP Parliamentary Party hails PM Narendra Modi's role in Gujarat win

Prime Minister Narendra Modi heaped praises on Gujarat state unit chief CR Paatil at the first BJP Parliamentary Party meeting of the winter session on Wednesday for the unprecedented win in the assembly elections and asked party lawmakers to make similar efforts in the state polls due in 2023 and the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

The BJP Parliamentary Party felicitated Modi for the party's massive victory in Gujarat polls. "In his address, Modi with an open mind said it is CR Paatil and party president JP Nadda as well as party workers of Gujarat who should be credited with the party's victory. He said this victory is an example of how a party can win due to its cadre, by not allowing anti-incumbency to creep in and on the strength of its organisation," parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi told reporters after the meeting.

BJP central leadership has held meetings with party leaders of some states going to polls in 2023. More such meetings are in the pipeline to look into the shortcomings and challenges in poll-bound states. Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tripura and Telangana are among the states where polls will be held before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.


The parliamentary party meeting on Wednesday began with railways and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw making a presentation on the state of the economy. "The presentation was about how under Modi's leadership India has become the fastest growing economy and how inflation is under control in comparison to other countries. Inflation has now come down to 5.8%," Joshi said.
