BJP opposes nomination of Anglo-Indian in Uttarakhand Assembly

DEHRA DUN: With the Congress facing crisis over the chief ministerial candidate issue in Uttarakhand, BJP today asked Governor Margaret Alva not to allow the ruling party to nominate an MLA from Anglo-Indian community in the legislative assembly at this stage.
"This is not a healthy tradition to send an Anglo-Indian to Vidhan Sabha at a time when the state cabinet has not been formed and all the Congress MLAs have not taken oath," state BJP chief Bishan Singh Chufal said.
BJP leaders led by Chufal led a party delegation to the Raj Bhavan to register its protest on the isuue.
Chufal said Congress must prove its majority in the House before taking any decision on the Anglo-Indian quota.
He said the crisis in Congress was creating hurdles in the development process in the hill state. After the swearing in ceremony of Vijay Bahuguna, all the process related to the cabinet formation has failed to move ahead, Chufal said.
