"The march was to culminate in a gherao at the nearby Petroleum House, but we got information that it was closed," Mumbai BJP president said.

MUMBAI: BJP and NCP workers today held separate demonstrations here to protest against the Centre's decision to increase diesel price and restricting supply of LPG gas.

BJP workers organized a protest march from the state party office in south Mumbai.

"The march was to culminate in a gherao at the nearby Petroleum House, but we got information that it was closed," Mumbai BJP president Raj Purohit said.

The protest was also aimed at opposing FDI in retail, he said.

BJP workers then courted arrest and were taken to the Marine Line police station, where they were released an hour later, he said.

NCP women wing workers held a protest at Azad Maidan, shouting slogans condemning the price hike. They also burnt an effigy of LPG cylinder.
