BJP-NC alliance in works for J&K? Omar Abdullah meets Amit Shah & Arun Jaitley

NEW DELHI: National Conference leader & former J&K CM Omar Abdullah on Thursday met top BJP leaders Amit Shah and Arun Jaitley to discuss possibilities of government formation in the state, reported Times Now.

According to Times Now, discussions are on between the two parties and BJP will get to have its Chief Minister in the state for the full six years term. NC is believed to have settled for getting three major portfolios, the channel said.

A final decision on the alliance will be taken only after Arun Jaitley meets state party leaders in Jammu & Kashmir, Times Now said. "There are many ideological differences between PDP and BJP. BJP feels an alliance with the NC would be easier," the channel said.

Keeping "all options" open, BJP has decided to depute a two-member team led by senior leader Arun Jaitley to hold talks with the party's newly-elected MLAs in Jammu and Kashmir on possibility of forming government besides supervising election of their leader in the Assembly.

The decision was taken by BJP's Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body of the party, which discussed the election results in Jammu and Kashmir as well as Jharkhand. The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Amit Shah and other senior leaders.

Jaitley and party national secretary Arun Singh, who will go as Observers, will hold a meeting of the BJP Legislature Party that will elect its leader in Jammu and Kashmir, Health Minister and party general secretary J P Nadda have said.
