Bringing about changes in the party’s organizational network, the party’s national president J P Nadda gave a detailed guideline to the MLAs, MPs and Mandal Presidents for preparations to strengthen the party at the booth level at a high level in ...

“The booth strengthening initiative will be done ahead of Panchayat polls in Bengal. The BJP National President has told the party workers that area committees will be formed, which is new to the party, sources said.
Bringing changes in the organisational structure, the party is likely to introduce anchal (area) committees instead of the existing mandal committees, sources told ET. Every booth will have 20 members and there will be one person in charge of booth workers.
It has been decided that five people will be selected at the grassroots with motorcycles or bikes, who will travel extensively to the villages and collect information at the booth levels. The booth-level workers will also contact people from other parties and try to rope them in BJP apart from reaching out to the grass-root workers and people at large, sources told ET.
Nadda has also instructed in today’s meeting the Mandal Presidents will work towards bringing more workers to the party’s fold. “The Mandal President has been told to bring new members-specially from SC, ST and women,” people in the know told ET. Strengthening the booths of the party is the main focus of the party with an eye toward Panchayat polls. Followers and workers of other parties, even at the booth level, should be contacted by the BJP workers.
Meanwhile, Booth Sashaktikaran Abhiyan will also be started in Bengal. Sixteen MPs and MLAs will be part of the Abhiyan and they will lead a team that will undertake data collection work and the data will be uploaded in an app.
It is pertinent to mention that there was large-scale violence in the last Panchayat polls in 2018 and BJP and other political parties in Bengal failed to even file nomination papers. Many BJP workers were also killed in violence in 2018 during and ahead of the Panchayat polls.
