BJP members of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday opposed the Karnataka government's decision to create a 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts and demanded the Centre bring a law to undo "such religion-based reservations", which they contended was "anti-constitutional".

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey alleged Congress governments moves to create "quota for Muslims" in government jobs, education and now in contracts "is aimed at creating divisions" in the country. Another BJP MP Tejasvi Surya alleged Karnataka move was designed "to encourage conversions to Islam".

MoS parliamentary affairs Arjun Meghwal promised he would convey the demand to bring a law to undo such a quota to the concerned minister.
