NEW DELHI: Complaints of frequent 'call dropping', excess billing and non-transparency by some private telecom operators was today made by a group of BJP MPs to Union Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who promised to look into the issue.

The parliamentarians demanded action against the private telecom operators after proper investigation into the charges and alleged that the companies were not hearing complaints of the customers.

"We have complained to the Minister against the problems being faced by users of Vodafone and Airtel, which have the majority (of subscribers) in the two metro cities of Delhi and Mumbai," BJP MP Kirit Somaiya said.

"Customers have to pay more due to 'call drop' as many a times for a talk of three minutes, a customer has to experience 'call drop' twice resulting in payment of three times... In spite of repeated request complaints the companies do not listen to the customers," the complaint reads.

The MPs said 'call drop' has become a routine occurrence 15 to 20 seconds into a call in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Delhi, the MPs said, claiming they too had faced such inconvenience.

"We request investigation and action," the complaint said.
