BJP MP Kirti Azad and five others acquitted in a case

Judicial Magistrate Braj Kishore Sinha passed the order acquitting Azad, and five others for want of evidence against them in the said case.

DARBHANGA: BJP MP Kirti Azad and five others were today acquitted by a court in a case slapped against them for allegedly vandalising electricity office in Bihar's Darbhanga town nearly 14 years back.

Judicial Magistrate Braj Kishore Sinha passed the order acquitting Azad, and five others for want of evidence against them in the said case.

According to the Public Prosecutor Shailendera Kumar Sinha, Azad and five party workers, including Sanjay Saraogi, were booked under various sections of IPC for allegedly vandalising electricity office and preventing public servants from discharging duties in Mirzapur locality under Town police station area on May 23, 2001.

The BJP MP and others were protesting against acute power shortage in Dharbhanga town.

While Azad is serving third-term from Darbhanga Lok Sabha seat, Saraogi is presently an MLA from Darbhanga assembly constituency.
