NEW DELHI: BJP member Nishikant Dubey was today forced to apologise for his remarks in Lok Sabha about people from south India.

During the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address, Dubey was making a point about lack of knowledge about the country in its different parts when one of his comments drew vociforious protests from opposition members.

Dubey first offered to withdraw his remarks and later offered his apologies if it hurt people's feelings.

Deputy Speaker M Thambi Durai later expunged his comments.

Dubey quoted past Congress prime ministers to take a dig at the party over lack of development in the country and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working to fulfill the needs of the people.
