BJP may emerge winner with 200+ seats: Opinion poll

NEW DELHI: An opinion poll released by Zee News has forecast that NDA would emerge as the leading alliance following Lok Sabha elections with BJP alone expected to corner over 200 seats after pushing Congress to second place.

It also suggested that BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has an edge over his Congress rival Rahul Gandhi with 46 per cent of the respondents preferring the former as their choice for the top Union cabinet job.

According to the opinion poll conducted by Zee Media Corporation Ltd. and TALEEM Research Foundation, NDA is tipped to win anywhere between 217 and 231 seats while the ruling UPA alliance would secure 120 to 133 seats.

The third front may garner about 83-115 seats, the survey submitted. It further claims that 21.2 per cent of the respondents had opted for Gandhi as prime minister while AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal received support in that regard from 4.2 per cent of those who took part in the survey.

According to a press release here, over 44.2 per cent of the respondents said they would like to vote for NDA. And, while 24 per cent said that UPA would be their choice, 8.2 per cent people favoured the third front. According to the survey, 23.7 per cent of the respondents were yet to decide on their party of choice. The survey covered 56 parliamentary constituencies spread across 21 states. It had a sample size of 13,428 respondents.
