BJP makes fresh revelations in cash-for-vote scam
BJP leader Arun Jaitley delineated '3 stages of the scam' alleging that phone of Amar Singh's aide was used for conversations with the 3 BJP MPs. Gandhi vs Terrorism
Addressing a press conference, BJP leader Arun Jaitely said: "The party has handed over a long and detailed letter and annexures to the parliamentary committee on the cash-for-vote scam."
"We want the matter to be thoroughly investigated, he said.
About the channel not airing the cash-for-vote sting, he said, "We expected the channel to air the sting. The incident has shown the subversion of the media."
Jaitley also delineated the 'three stages of the scam'.
"In the first stage," he said, "the MPs were invited and offered the money. Then there was a meeting where the amount was decided. In the third stage the actual payment was made. BJP MPs were asked to collect money from 27 Lodhi Road, but they refused to do that because of presence of the media."
"The third fact itself is sufficient to punish someone, but we want to present all facts to the people of this country," he said.
Jaitley alleged that Amar Singh's aide Sanjeev Saxena was the person who came with the money and that Saxena's phone was used for conversations between the BJP MPs and Amar Singh.
The phone, the BJP leader said, went in disuse after the cash-for-vote scam went public.
"This phone was in the name of HFCL and was used openly by SP to even inform the media about SP's press conference," he told the press.
Jaitley also accused political parties of using fake sting to evade the truth.
