BJP loses UP Cantonment Board polls
LUCKNOW: BJP suffered a humiliating defeat in most of the 13 Cantonment Board polls, results for which were declared on Monday. BJP lost in most places, including VIP constituencies of Varanasi and Lucknow represented by Narendra Modi and Rajnath Singh.

Though the Cantonment Board elections are not held on party symbols, the loss for BJP was embarrassing as it had officially named candidates in major cities, with the local leadership taking an active part in the election campaign. About 15,000 voters voted in 7 wards of Varanasi Cantonment Board polls, but BJP failed to win even a single seat. Independents emerged victorious in these 7 wards.
