NEW DELHI: BJP today lodged a complaint with Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi against AAP leader Rakhi Birla, candidate from North-West Delhi seat, for the use of national flag on her cap while campaigning.

BJP has registered a complaint after a photo, published in English daily, showed her wearing a cap with the national flag printed on it. The party demanded a ban on Birla from contesting elections and stern action against her party by withdrawing their election symbol.

"By using national flag, AAP leader used corrupt practice and showed disrespect to it. On this matter, we today registered a complaint against Rakhi Bira to Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi," Harish Khurana, spokesperson of Delhi BJP, said in a statement.

Khurana also said that complaint has been registered by the party legal cell convenor Anil Soni, claiming that section 123 (3) Representation of People Act, 1951 describes how use of National Flag for appealing to voters by candidate is a corrupt practice.
