BJP-led states unwilling to stop drugs' cultivation: Sukhbir, Akali Dal
The SAD is under pressure over the drugs issue, especially after the summoning of revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia by enforcement directorate in a drug racket case, with BJP too demanding his ouster.

Addressing a gathering in protest against drugs, Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal said states like MP and Rajasthan were minting money on sales of opium and poppy husk while Punjab had put its might against drugs. The junior Badal, however, chose not to mention about the revenue that Punjab earns from liquor contracts.
Sukhbir said maximum drugs were sold in Goa (another BJP-ruled state) while advising PM Narendra Modi to earmark `1,000 cr for modernisation of BSF. “Technology can be used for detection of drugs and smugglers, Centre government should give sufficient funds to BSF which should be used for surveillance of border,” he said.
While Akalis held a rally at grain market in Attari, Congressmen also held a rally against Akalis, accusing them of attempting to gain sympathy by exploiting people’s sentiments under the garb of drug abuse
