BJP-led govt in Assam fast tracks poll promise of providing one lakh government jobs by March

BJP led Assam government has fast tracked its election promise of providing one lakh government jobs by March next year. State Cabinet on Wednesday given its nod to appoint 8855 youth in various technical posts.

The cabinet meeting decided as a part of State government’s decision to appoint one lakh youth in government jobs, the Cabinet has given its nod to appoint 8855 youth in various technical posts viz doctors, nurses, paramedics in the Health Department. This process will start from September, 2021.

The cabinet added,”. The dearness allowance for State government employees and dearness relief for pensioners will be increased from the existing 17 per cent to 28 per cent. The increase is 11 per cent. Both State government employees and pensioners will be entitled to this enhance DA and DR to be effective from July 1, 2021. Cabinet has decided to regularise the leave of absence of the employees who were absent from their headquarter office prior to 20 March, 2020 due to COVID pandemic”.


The cabinet meeting stated, “Transport and Skill Development Department jointly to impart driving training to 50 youth from each constituency. After the training, the Government besides giving Driving License will give subsidy to Rs. 1 lakh for enabling them to purchase commercial passenger vehicles. Total number of youths to trained is 6600”.

The cabinet has also decided to Cabinet has decided to request the Central Government to replace the word Lalung, with Tiwa.
