BJP led government starts process for preparing the roadmap for industrial development of Assam

GUWAHATI: The BJP led government in Assam has kick started the process for preparing the roadmap for industrial development of the state.

The Industries and Commerce Department held an interactive meet with its stakeholders to prepare a road map for industrial development in the state.

Commissioner of Industries and Commerce, Swapnanil Baruah said, “Though the challenges for industrial development in the state are tremendous, the factors for its growth however are very promising. And in order to push the growth of industrial development, an inter-ministerial coordination is required.”

The Commissioner stated that the ‘Assam Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2016’ recently passed in the Assam Assembly, will facilitate a single window system for speedy processing and clearances for setting up of industries in the state.

Around thirteen representatives from various trade organizations deliberated on the issues and challenges of the trade bodies and suggested initiatives like Starts Ups, Make in Assam, Special Economic Zones (SEZ)s, trade fairs, skill development, entrepreneurship development programmes, information repository and database, border economic corridor, medical and ayurvedic tourism etc for a holistic trade expansion.
