BJP leader blames Congress for Amarnath land row

BJP state unit leader here on Wednesday alleged that the Amarnath land row was a creation of the Congress-led coalition for political gains.

JALANDHAR: A BJP state unit leader here on Wednesday alleged that the Amarnath land row was a creation of the Congress-led coalition for political gains. Chief of party's investor cell in Punjab Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said the earlier Congress-PDP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir transferred nearly 40 hectares of forest land in Baltal area to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to win over Hindus in Jammu region.

But when the PDP saw two factions of the Hurriyat Conference coming together to resist the move, he said, the PDP withdrew its support from the government of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Grewal said the Azad-led state government wanted to gain political mileage but ended up creating chaos in the state.
