BJP leader Amit Shah mocks Manmohan Singh, calls him 'mouni baba'

KOLKATA: BJP leader and former Gujarat minister, Amit Shah on Saturday mocked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by calling him "Mouni Baba." "The Congress has not yet decided its leader and prime ministerial candidate for the next year's Lok Sabha elections.

Will it be Mouni Baba or Rahul Baba? The country is in dark over this issue. But we have decided to fight the Lok Sabha elections under Narendra Modi's leadership," Shah told a BJP gathering here on Saturday.

In fact, the former Gujrat chief minister and a close aide of Modi Shah was preparing grounds for Modi's rally in Kolkata early next year. He, at the same time, launched the BJP's poll campaign here by addressing the party gathering.

Shah also made a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress government in the state stating that Mamata Banerjee had failed to keep her own promises which she had made at the time of coing to power in West Bengal more than two years back.

Shah asked the gathering to find out whether the entire Bengal got round-the clock supply of electricity. He engaged the crowd saying, “Do you get round-the-clock electricity in West Bengal's villages, like Gujarat? Say ‘no’ loudly so that Mamata didi hears.”

"There is not much difference between the Trinamool Congress and Congress,” Shah said, remarking that despite the change in leadership in Bengal, the state was yet to witness change in policies.

“Same Communists now wear a Trinamool cloak and rule the state,” he said.
