SHIMLA: Stepping up pressure on the ruling Congress in Himachal Pradesh, a BJP delegation today submitted a memorandum to Governor V S Kokje demanding immediate registration of an FIR against former Transport and Tourism Minister G S Bali for allegedly organising a vulgar birthday party.
The delegation comprising state party President and MLA Jairam Thakur, legislators I D Dhiman, Baldev Sharma, Ravinder Ravi and others, also submitted the report of a BJP fact-finding committee on the issue.
The committee demanded that besides registration of a case, the former minister should be interrogated by the CBI.
"The governor gave a sympathetic hearing to our demand and assured us that he would look into the matter," Thakur said while coming out of the Raj Bhawan.
He said that BJP's probe committee found that Bali's "indecent" party organised to celebrate his birthday at a hotel in Macleodganj on July 26 violated several laws for which he should be punished.
Accusing the state government of shielding the former minister, the delegation urged the Governor to ask the government to initiate criminal proceedings against him.
The BJP would raise the issue in the monsoon session of the assembly starting tomorrow, Thankur said.
