BJP is spreading false propaganda against Rahul Gandhi; there will be reservation for social justice: Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said that the Congress party will support the reservation system as long as untouchability exists in the country, adding that the BJP was spreading a false narrative against leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi.

While talking in Jammu and Kashmir, Kharge said, "BJP people are spreading false propaganda against Rahul Gandhi. As long as untouchability exists in this country, there will be reservation for social justice. The Congress party will continue to support reservation and will keep fighting for the reservation rights of SC, ST, OBC, EWS classes. We will keep fighting."



Further, he accused the BJP of keeping vacant government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress president said that his party would fill 1 lakh vacant government jobs in the Union territory. "There are 1 lakh government jobs vacant in Jammu and Kashmir, we will fill those 1 lakh jobs. BJP says they will give 5 lakh jobs, hey brother, your government has been in power for 10 years... The LG here has more power than the Chief Minister, then why has he not given jobs till now?" said Kharge.

Gandhi had said that the Congress party will think of scrapping reservations when India becomes a "fair place," which it is not.

Several BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi have questioned Gandhi's statements and reiterated the fact that reservations would remain.
