The meeting was chaired by BJP national president J P Nadda and attended by party working president Nitin Nabin and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
According to party sources, the discussions centred on formulating a coordinated political and administrative response to the Congress party's nationwide agitation against the proposed legislation. The interaction follows the Congress announcing a countrywide "MGNREGA Bachao Sangram" from January 10 to February 25, demanding withdrawal of the VB-G RAM G Act and restoration of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as a rights-based law.
During the meeting, BJP leaders reviewed the government's political messaging on the new rural employment framework and discussed strategies to counter what they termed "misinformation" by the opposition. Emphasis was placed on highlighting the government's stated objectives of rural development, employment generation, and livelihood security under the proposed mission.
Participants also shared feedback from their respective states on the implementation of rural employment schemes and the potential impact of the Congress campaign at the grassroots level.
The BJP leadership is expected to continue consultations with state units and allied organisations in the coming weeks as the political debate over rural employment intensifies.
Meanwhile, opposition criticism has gathered institutional backing, with assemblies in Punjab and Telangana passing resolutions condemning the VB-G RAM G Act.
