BJP for suspension of Indo-Pak dialogue

BJP today favoured suspension of all dialogue with Islamabad until normalcy returned to Pakistan.

PATNA: BJP today favoured suspension of all dialogue with Islamabad until normalcy returned to Pakistan and suggested international monitoring of that country to check the progress of its fight against terrorism.

"There is no justification for continuing the dialogue process with Pakistan in the present chaotic scenario when a battle is raging between President Pervez Musharraf and the clergy. India should closely watch the situation and see how honest Musharraf is in the fight against terror," BJP president Rajnath Singh told a press conference here today.

"There should also be an international watch on Pakistan under the aegis of the United Nations Security Council to monitor Islamabad's fight against terror groups," he said.

Referring to the joint anti-terror mechanism between India and Pakistan, Singh said if President Musharraf was indeed serious about eliminating extremism and terrorism, he should extend full support to India in its fight against the twin devils.

"There has been no change in the ground reality that terror camps directed against India continue to operate in Pakistan," he said.

Suggesting that India closely monitor the situation in the wake of the military operation at Lal Masjid in Islamabad, the BJP leader said "India has to be on guard as Pakistan is a nuclear weapons state and there is the threat of that country going into the hands of jehadi elements".
