BJP flays Oxford University's cancellation of Subramanian Swamy's lecture
NEW DELHI: BJP today termed as "shocking" Oxford University's cancellation of a lecture by party leader Subramanian Swamy on India's economy and questioned its liberal values.

The Oxford University in London in conjunction with the Oxford India Foundation had initially invited Swamy for a lecture on Indian economy - past, present and future but later cancelled the same.

Swamy confirmed that he was earlier invited but later his lecture was cancelled. He will be visiting England on a four-day tour later this month.

BJP general secretary Ram Madhav questioned the Varsity's decision saying "where are its liberal values of free speech?"

"Oxford cancelling Dr Swami's lectures on economy is shocking. Where is the so-called liberal value of free speech?" he said.
